Considered the brutal subjugation
of indigenous people, colonialism involves the control by one power over a
dependent area or people. This is the situation when one country violently
invades and takes control of the other country. However, colonialism has its
own benefits that also include bringing a new lifestyle to the colonies. It is
because of the colonies that the conquest of lands and forceful coexistence of
the people of different backgrounds with different beliefs and ideologies has
brought about many changes, both negative as well as positive. If it is an
underdeveloped area, colonialism will bring modernization with the advanced
technological equipment and facilities that are required for improvements in
medical as well as healthcare services. These developments are required to
improve the status of the colonies globally.
Apart from this, colonialism has
also brought along with it great improvement in education by providing the opportunities
of competition in different disciplines including literature, mathematics, art
and science. Besides, the existence of natural resources can also be
contributed to colonialism. It provided the provision of new technology and the
colonies were made aware of it by their colonial masters. Thus, it made the
exploration of natural resources quite easier and efficient.
However, merits are usually
followed by the demerits and the same happened with colonialism. The colonial
masters brought along with them some diseases that the people of colonies were
not aware of. The colonial masters contracted some diseases like typhoid and
malaria, thus making the risk of diseases quite high during the colonial
period.
Still the countries that have
been colonized can witness the effect of colonialism. Overall, colonialism has
both the good as well as the bad effects. With a knack for world history,
Lonzado A. Langley is a colonial investigative historian who has traveled
aboard on historical research mission to Egypt, Cairo, Lexor and Aswan.
Besides, he traveled to South Africa on historical research, the Slave lodge in
Cape Town, and Robin Island prison.
Apart
from this, Lonzado A. Langley is the national spokesperson for the house of
ancestry and director of research
